Edwin founded SolarPlaza company in 2004. He is a senior PV expert and started in the photovoltaic solar energy business in 1994. He has experience as a solar energy consultant and project developer in more than 200 PV projects. Edwin holds a Master’s degree in Chemical engineering and previously worked in the Chemical industry before starting his first consultancy company in PV in 1994.

Michael Liebreich is Founder and Chairman of the Advisory Board of Bloomberg New Energy Finance, the world’s leading provider of research on clean energy, energy technology and advanced transportation. Michael founded New Energy Finance in 2004 and acted as Chairman and Chief Executive before selling it to Bloomberg LP in 2009. Bloomberg New Energy Finance is headquartered in London and now has over 200 staff in 13 offices around the world. Since August 2012 Michael has served as a Board Member of Transport for London. He is a member of the high-level Advisory Group for the UN Secretary General’s Sustainable Energy for All initiative and is Founder and Chairman of Finance for Resilience (FiRe), EcoVillages and the Liebreich Foundation. He is a Visiting Professor at the Imperial College Energy Futures Lab. Michael is Chairman of technology startup Pearlshare and of St. Mark’s Hospital Foundation, a charity supporting research in colorectal medicine. He is a three-time finalist in the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards, and in 2015 was presented with the Renewable Energy Association's Judges Award for lifetime achievement. Michael is a member of the Advisory Council of Business for Britain.
Prior to founding New Energy Finance, Michael acted as Deputy Managing Director of Associated Press Television and Founding Director of Sports News Television, then as UK Managing Director of Groupe Arnault’s technology investment. He spent five years in the London office of McKinsey & Co. Michael graduated in Engineering from University of Cambridge with 1st class honours, winning the Ricardo Prize for Thermodynamics and Christ’s College Wyatt Prize. He has an MBA from Harvard, where he was a Harkness Fellow and Baker Scholar. He was a member of the British Olympic Ski Team in 1992.

    By working 10 years in various functions in the automotive and renewable energy sector, Tobias Bittkau gained extensive business experience on a global level, with a strong focus on Europe as well as North and South America.
    Since 2011, Tobias Bittkau is active in the field of Renewable Energies. Initially he joined BayWa r.e. for several strategic projects. In 2013 he became head of the technical operations management, since 2015 he is responsible for the complete Business Unit Services, operating 2.3GW of wind and PV assets in all major European markets. In addition to technical and commercial operations management, on-site maintenance and 24/7 monitoring, BayWa r.e. also offers Rotor Blade Services as well as a broad range of technical consulting services. Other areas of activity of BayWa r.e. are the development and construction of wind farms, PV plants and biogas plants as well as the trade of energy and solar systems.
    Tobias Bittkau studied Physics at the universities of Munich (Germany), Cuernavaca (Mexico) and Toronto (Canada). In 2013/2014, he received his diploma in Renewable Energy Management at the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland.

    Dr. Robin Hirschl studied physics in Vienna, Austria, and Lyon, France, and holds a PhD in Computational Materials Science from Vienna University. He started his career at Booz Allen Hamilton (today Strategy&), joining the European Utilities Team, where he lead energy projects throughout Europe as Senior Project Manager. Since 2007 he has held management positions at Kioto Photovoltaics and KPV Solar, before co-founding ENcome Energy Performance, offering professional technical services to PV power plants across Europe. He acts as CEO since June 2012. As of 2014 he is also member of the Supervisory Board of Kioto Clear Energy AG.

    Gianluca has over 7 years of experience in the renewable energy sector, spread across different areas, from the development to the financing, construction and then technical, administrative, financial, accounting and fiscal management of energy production assets and their respective investment vehicles setup in different countries.
    Since joining WiseEnergy, Gianluca has contributed to the setup and growth of the business and the corporate structure, gaining progressively external exposure and internal responsibilities.
    Gianluca has also been involved in the provision of asset management services to both lenders and sponsors and actively participated to lobbying activities carried-out by key Italian sector associations such as Assilea.
    Previously, Gianluca worked in the investment banking industry for 6 years, across different financial institutions (Calyon, Mediobanca, Dresdner Kleinwort and lastly Morgan Stanley) and countries (Italy and UK), gaining an extensive experience in the energy and infrastructure sector, having worked on several landmark M&A and capital market transactions closed both in Italy and abroad. Gianluca is graduated cum laude in Business Administration with a major in Corporate Finance at the Bocconi University (Italy).

    Maria is a General Manager at WiseEnergy Italia. Maria joined the Group in 2010 from NextEnergy Capital where she was a Project Manager. Since joining WiseEnergy she significantly contributed to expanding the contacts with asset owners and strengthening internal processes and the range of services provided. Maria has over 12 years of experience in corporate banking, financial advisory and investment management (of which 5 years in the renewable energy sector). She managed transactions (sell-side advisory, fund raising, project development and investment management) for over 350 MW of renewable energy and cogeneration plants across Italy and in the UK. Previously worked as a Senior Associate in the Macquarie Group in London and was responsible for structuring, preparation of business plans and vendor due diligences of cross-border real estate funds. She successfully managed fund raising processes resulting in over €650m of committed capital. Prior to her experience in the Macquarie Group, Maria worked as an Analyst at Mediobanca in Milan (corporate banking) where she was involved in financial advisory and structuring for landmark construction projects, public offerings for real estate companies and securitizations. She holds a degree in Economics (cum laude) at Bocconi University and a master degree (cum laude) in Renewable Energy at Politecnico di Milano.

    Laurens de Vries is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Technology, Policy and Management of Delft University of Technology. Laurens studied Mechanical Engineering in Delft, specializing in environmental and energy technology and obtained a second Master’s Degree, in Environmental Studies, from The Evergreen State College (Olympia, Washington State, USA) in 1996, focusing on environmental economics. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in June, 2004 from Delft University of Technology, this time at the Faculty of Technology, Policy and Management. He researches and teaches in the field of electricity market design and regulation in the context of the transformation towards a low-carbon energy system. His main focus is on how various policy instruments affect the long-term development of European electricity markets through their impact on investment in generation and transmission.

    Mr. Levent Gun has over 25 years of technology experience having worked in technical and senior executive-level positions while establishing a track record of successful leadership at both start-ups and mature companies. Levent joined Ampt as its first CEO shortly after its Series A funding and lead all aspects of Ampt’s product and go to market strategies as well as built the team and Ampt’s customer driven culture. Under Levent’s leadership Ampt has created a new category of optimizers for the utility segment of the Solar PV market and became the #1 optimizer company worldwide for this largest segment.
    Prior to joining Ampt as CEO, Levent was president and CEO of Kleer, a wireless audio semiconductor company that was acquired by SMSC. Prior to Kleer, Levent was president and CEO of Iospan Wireless, a pioneer in MIMO technology, which was acquired by Intel Corporation. Previously, Levent co-founded and led US Robotics’ Cable Data Business and transformed this fledgling start-up into a $100 million business after 3COM’s acquisition of US Robotics. Earlier in his career, Levent held various engineering management and leadership positions at Motorola and IBM, as well as research positions at several universities and labs.
    Levent holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland and undergraduate degrees in engineering and mathematics from Bogazici University in Turkey. He has published extensively in technical journals and holds 14 patents and numerous awards for his pioneering work in high speed data communications and broadband access. An accomplished speaker, Levent is often invited to speak at industry events as well as present papers.
