Paolo Michele Sonvilla holds a MSc in Electronic Engineering (University of Trieste, Italy) and a Master of Business Administration (INSEAD, France). Paolo started his professional career in the telecommunications sector, working in several European countries on the development and commercial launch of mobile telecommunications devices. After completing his MBA studies in 2006, Paolo gained interest in the renewable energy sector and since then he has been collaborating with several organisations.
Paolo started his collaboration with ECLAREON in 2007, initially focusing on strategy consulting projects in the Italian PV sector, taking part to M&A, commercial strategy and business planning activities. Thanks to the international reach of ECLAREON he later broadened his interests and skills towards the policy consulting and European projects areas. In these fields he has authored several research studies, including contributions to the AEON Tren Barriers and RES Integration projects. He has also led the submission and negotiation of several European project proposals. In particular, from 2009 onwards Paolo co-managed the PV LEGAL and PV GRID Intelligent Energy Europe programme projects. Paolo is currently responsible for developing the ECLAREON Madrid office’s strategy for European and other international procurement and co-funding programmes for technology R&D, demonstration and market uptake activities in the fields of renewable energy, smart grids and energy efficiency.
Paolo is fluent in Italian, English and Spanish and he also has a good familiarity with French.
Matías Gallego has previous experience in R&D, engineering, counseling and consulting solar PV Projects. He has been involved at several levels in the development, design, implementation and maintenance of solar energy projects. From 2006 to 2009 he has developed his professional career in a top European PV modules manufacturer, where he has held positions in the R&D, Construction of Facilities and Aftersales. From 2009 to the beginning of 2011 he has served as Technical Director of the Italian branch of such module manufacturer.
In 2011 he joined to Langley Renovables (PVdiagnosis) and later to Vector Cuatro, where he has worked in the technical department with responsibility for the activities of engineering, consulting and auditing of PV installations in operation. Most recently, in December 2012 he became the firm’s Technical Director focusing mainly in the Asset Management activities. Matías has a degree in Physics from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and Postgraduate in Physics of Complex Systems at the Universidad Politecnica de Madrid.
Edmée Kelsey brings a wealth of solar asset management expertise to her role as founder and CEO of 3megawatt. 3megawatt provides solar asset management software designed to support asset owners with managing their solar portfolio risks and asset managers with reducing their asset management costs. As former CFO of Main Street Power, she closed project financing for over 100 of distributed solar PV projects and was responsible for the asset management of those solar assets.
As a former VP at the investment bank JP Morgan and managing director of a clean energy corporate finance advisory firm, she gained a deep understanding of the requirements of project finance providers and sponsors, funds and investors. Her background as a founder and CEO of a venture-backed telecom service provider brings utility billing, asset tracking and O&M service ticketing experience.
Gerhard Mütter is Technical Director of CEE Clean Economic Energy AG, where he is responsible for O&M, asset management and technical due diligence of new plants. Previously, Gerhard has been working at EcoEnergy PLC, being involved in technical market arrangements for BIPV. Before that, Gerhard was active at ecotec Energy AG, being responsible for product development and technical assessments and at Sulis Solartechnologie GmbH, a startup active in the PV industry.
Gerhard holds a degree in Technical Mathematics and Informatics, as well as in Automotive Engineering.
Juan M. Fernández as Director of Asset Management is responsible for the management of the entire SunEdison portfolio in Europe, Middle East, Latin America and Africa. Acting as main customer contact for operational issues Juan and his team are focused on maximizing asset revenue while optimizing project OPEX and assuring project compliance with regulatory requirements. In addition, he serves in the board managing warranty claims for the region. Prior to joining SunEdison Juan spent over 10 years in the photovoltaic industry in BP Solar as PV Performance Manager in the Asset Management team and as Technology Manager defining and supporting PV cell and Module R&D and technology transfer programs. Juan holds a Ph. D. in Applied Physics from the University of California, San Diego.
Michael Haerig is Head of Industry Practice Power and Utility group for Germany and Australia, as well as Head of Power and Technical Insurances for the region West at Marsh. He is specialized in risk- and insurance management with focus on power and utility, as well as the realization of projects in the field of Risk & Insurance Due Diligence. Michael received his education from the Max-Planck-Institute in Stuttgart.
Cedric Brehaut is an expert in the monitoring and operations & maintenance of PV systems with extensive experience in the solar industry and over thirteen years in Silicon Valley. After seven years spent developing, managing and marketing security software products, Cedric joined the solar industry in 2007 as a director of product management for SunEdison and was a key contributor to the development and growth of the company’s services business unit. During Cedric’s tenure, SunEdison created and launched a new suite of turnkey services for PV plants, including managed monitoring, operations & maintenance, billing, and asset reporting services. Cedric also acted as the business development leader for these products. In 2011, he established SoliChamba Consulting and began offering consulting services to various firms in the solar industry. In 2012 and 2013, Cedric authored the solar industry's most comprehensive reports on PV monitoring and operations & maintenance (O&M) markets, published by GTM Research: 'Global PV Monitoring: Technologies, Markets and Leading Players' and 'Megawatt-Scale PV Plant Operations and Maintenance: Services, Markets and Competitors'.
Marcello Pagani is Partner at BrokerStudio Srl, an insurance brokerage firm specialized in renewable energy insurance. Prior to this Marcello was Head of Business Development, being in charge of the Solar PV department, where he daily advised national and international EPC and O&M contractors, fund managers, portfolio owners and other key stakeholders about means to protect and enhance PV investments thanks to specific insurance solutions.
Before joining BrokerStudio, Marcello worked for the Renewable Energy Foundation in London. Marcello holds an MA in International Politics at Bologna University and a PGC in Environmental Politics at King's College London.
Francesc Filiberto is Head of Service Sales Europe in SMA Solar Technology. He joined SMA in 2011 as Director of Service Operation in SMA Iberica. Francesc is in PV business since 2006 when he founded a project management engineering firm, Ara Ingenieria. Prior to that, he held senior management positions in companies like Underwriters Laboratories and Nokia. Francesc holds an MBA from IE Business School and two bachelor degrees in Physics and Electronic Engineering.
Mark Turner is Operations Director for Lightsource Renewable Energy, the UK’s largest solar developer and operator. Mark is responsible for the infrastructure that supports the effective running of all the Lightsource businesses. Since the beginning of 2013, Mark has been building the Lightsource Services business including the Operations and Maintenance Team which currently consists of over 25 highly qualified engineers and technicians delivering services to over 500MW of PV solar and acting as custodian for over 1600 hectares of the UK countryside.
Previously Mark has served as Strategy Director for AXA in the UK; as a Change Management Consultant in diverse environments such as submarine overhaul, banking, distribution, pharmaceuticals and as an Operations & General Manager for semiconductor manufacturers such as Plessey, GEC and Mitel.
Mr. Zorzoli is currently in charge of Operation and Maintenance of Enel Green Power hydro, wind, solar and biomass generation portfolio in Italy, approx 2,340 MW and approx 630 employees.
Prior to his current assignment, Mr. Zorzoli worked for Enel as Head of Business Development Iberia and Latin America, as General Manger for Mexico, Business Development Manager for Central America and Project Developer in Brazil, the US and Canada. Prior to this Mr. Zorzoli worked for Enel in the electricity distribution division. Mr. Zorzoli also served as President of the Enel Fortuna SA Board of Directors in Panama and as a Member of Enel Panama SA Board of Directors.
Mr. Zorzoli joined Enel in 1996 from Officine Meccaniche Gallaratesi SpA, a leading metering pump manufacturer. Prior to that he served as Second Lieutenant in the Italian Army Corp of Engineers (Corpo Tecnico dell’Esercito).
Andrea Bertolaso, born in Arzignano (Vi), Italy 03/11/1968, received his Economics and Business degree from University of Brescia in 1993. He joined FIAMM last September 2013 as Manager in Operations and Maintenance for Energy Storage Solutions worldwide applications. He had experience as Director in construction for Renewable Energy installations, responsible of warehouse, project managers and site managers. He had the goal to achieve the delivery of the systems on time follow the dead lines and managing all the partner subcontractors. He was in charge also for the O&M contracts for the PV system owned by the Company.
Arturo Sferruzza is a banking and projects lawyer based in Milan where he is head of the Italian banking and energy teams. Arturo's practice covers project finance (energy and infrastructure), export credit and international trade finance and shipping finance. His clients include leading Italian and international banks and financial institutions and his experience covers a broad range of domestic and international deals. In recent years he has been particularly active in advising on the development and financing of renewable energy and infrastructure projects both in Italy and abroad.
Arturo joined our practice in the London office (Projects Group) in 2000 and transferred full time to Milan in September 2003. He became a partner in 2006.
Arturo read law summa cum laude at the Università di Palermo. He also obtained a masters degree (LLM) from the Queen Mary and Westfield College, University of London, in 2000. He is qualified in Italy and the UK (Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales). He is a native Italian speaker and he is fluent in English.
Manoël Rekinger is an electromechanical engineer from the Université Catholique de Louvain in Belgium. He has been working for EPIA, the European Photovoltaic Industry Association, since April 2011 and currently held the position of Senior Advisor. His activities in EPIA are mainly related to PV integration into power grids and markets. Interested by the development of business models implementing the energy transition, he previously worked 3 years as a technical and project engineer for an organisation that aims to develop the use of renewable energy. During this period, he was commissioned by the Walloon energy administration (Belgium) to monitor and analyse the PV sector development. Manoel is also representing EPIA in the IEA PVPS Task 14, in several advisory boards of European projects and publications focusing on the integration of decentralised generation in power systems.
Nicola Porcari is Head of Infrastructure at UBI Banca. He started his carreer as analyst and fund manager at Aegon UK, where he was fund manager of the European Equity Fund with a net asset value of approximately 160 Million GBP. After this he joined Eurizon Capital as Senior Analyst and Portfolio Manager, where he specialised in Utilities and Energy & Basic Materials Funds. Following his time at Eurizon, Nicola joined Exane, as Senior Sell Side Equity Analyst of European Utilities. Since 2009 Nicola works for UBI Banca, where he took up the role of Head of Infrastructure in January 2012.
Nicola holds a master degree in Economics from the Luigi Bocconi University in Milano and a master of science in Corporate Finance from the University of Stirling.
Eugenio Tranchino is the founder and current Head of the Italian offices of Watson, Farley & Williams. He specialises in corporate work, acquisition finance and project finance, with particular emphasis on infrastructure and renewable energy projects in Italy and Europe.
Eugenio has an undergraduate and Master’s Degree in Law from the University of Rome as well as an LL.M. in European Business Law from the University of Paris and is admitted to both the Italian and French Bars. He is fluent in Spanish, English and French in addition to his native Italian.
Between 1997 and 2002 Eugenio was an associate at major international law firms in Paris, including what is now Hogan Lovells, Milan and Rome before joining WFW. He has also acted as legal adviser at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Department of Legal Services. Ranked in Chambers Global 2014 (Corporate and M&A, Foreign Expert for France) and ‘leading individual’ in Chambers Europe 2014 (Energy, Band 2), Eugenio is also praised in Legal 500 EMEA 2014 as a ‘recommended’ individual for Energy as well as for Banking & Finance.
Prior to joining GA in 2014, Mr. Seracca-Guerrieri spent 3 years at Banco Santander where he worked in the Asset and Capital Structuring department as Senior Associate. During his time at Banco Santander, Mr. Seracca-Guerrieri had contribute to invest more than € 150 million of the bank’s equity, in renewables energy projects. Mr. Seracca-Guerrieri began his career in the investment banking at J.P. Morgan in London where he focused on M&A, and in the private equity sector in Milan. He holds a MS degree from Bocconi University, Milan.
Fabio Bassi (1979) received his Doctor of Electric Engineering degree from the University of Pisa in 2003. Since 2004 he worked for the Italian SO GRTN following the development of tools and operational rules for the starting of Italian Electrical Market. From 2005 works for the Italian TSO Terna as expert in network calculation and as PM for the development of optimization and reporting tools for National Control Centre. Currently his main topics of work are protection criteria, DG integration and Dynamic Rating. He is a member of national WGs in CEI and international WGs in Cigrè and GO15.
Riccardo Lama is head of “Standardization, Working Practices” unit at Enel Distribuzione, Italy, since 2012. His present responsibilities involve: standardization of power components, working devices and tools, safety equipment and clothing; standardization of working procedures including live working; management of homologation processes for power components and working equipment; technical vendor rating. He has previously been in charge (7 years) within Enel Distribuzione for: network planning, network connections including DG & RES, design criteria and GIS cartography, industrial real estate and permitting processes management, SAP System Management. His past experiences include management of Distribution Operating Units at the municipality level, including MV and LV connections management (9 years), and internal consulting on organizational and general management issues (7 years). He is Special Reporter in CIRED TC 5 “Power Distribution System Development” and member of Eurelectric TF on Grid Connection.
Aldo is Managing Partner and Chief Financial Officer of NextEnergy Capital. Aldo joined NEC in February 2008 from Morgan Stanley, where he was lastly a Vice President in the London Investment Banking Department. During his eight-year long banking career he held various financing and capital markets-related roles and closed several principal financing transactions, private equity and M&A deals.
Aldo has extensive experience in designing and executing complex structured finance transactions and has strong relationships with leading lenders and investors in the European renewable energy sector. Aldo holds a degree in Business and Economics from the Luiss University of Rome and prior to his banking career was an officer within the Academy of Guardia di Finanza in Italy.
Mirko joined Solon Spa in 2005, as he started performing the role of Technical Department Manager. During his experience in Solon he enabled successfully innovative and technological solutions to the Solon EPC business globally.
Mirko has been board member of Solon Operations GmbH since July 2013, and he is currently leading the Solon Group Business Unit Service providing advanced and complete O&M solutions worldwide. Based in Italian BU Head Quarter, Mirko is responsible for operations of more than 250 MWp in Europe and Israel and enhancing Solon business with a particular focus on Europe. Prior to that, he gained long standing experience in and hydro power plants engineering and operation. Graduated in Electrical Engineering in Padua University, he has been awarded a CNR Master in Advanced Nuclear Fusion
Carlos joined Foresight in December 2011. Prior to that, he covered several roles as renewables energy source “RES” project developer and technical consultant in the international Renewable Energy sector with particular focus on the Spanish and Italian markets. Based in Foresight's UK HQ office, Carlos is responsible for the management and operations of Foresight’s Spanish and Italian solar portfolio of circa 100 MW. Graduated in Industrial Engineering and Industrial Management Engineering by UPC Barcelona, Carlos is fluent in Spanish, Catalan, Italian and English.
