RECORDINGS /// Optimizing LCOE - The impact of reliable materials and components

Tuesday 9th October, 15:00 CEST

The current cost pressure climate and the emphasis on increasing profits have put forth the need for cost reduction strategies in the solar space. A core pillar of cost reduction is to set the foundation right at the very early stages in order to avert any avoidable costs in the future. Olivier Haldi of Stäubli Electrical Connectors and Peter Karam of Vector Cuatro discussed how to protect your investment, and ensure longevity and reliability of the project with an overall lower LCOE.

Agenda:

  • The wise selection of variables: equipment, surface, partners, and the importance of balancing CAPEX and OPEX at the early stages of development.

  • Critical topics during conception, construction and operation to ensure investment returns of a PV project.

  • Why PV connectors/cabling are systematically relevant and how the quality of components and the correct handling/installation positively influence the LCOE.

PETER KARAM /// HEAD OF TECHNICAL ASSET MANAGEMENT SPAIN & UK - VECTOR CUATRO
Dually competent and holding 2 French Master degrees in Electronics Engineering and General Management. Peter Karam has accumulated experience in the wind and photovoltaic energies in Europe and overseas, he participated in the design and technical analysis of several photovoltaic installations. From early 2013 to Q1 of 2017, he was a member of Vector Cuatro Group’s asset management team in France, where he managed up to 110MW of solar PV and wind projects. In Q2 of 2017, he joined the Group’s HQ in Madrid, where he is currently supervising, with the asset management team, over 500MW of renewable energy assets in Western Europe and the Americas.

RECORDINGS /// Risk mitigation: special focus on inverters and components

Tuesday October 24, 3:00-4:00 PM CEST

The long term operation of a photovoltaic plant involves a number of risks that can affect the overall profitability and performance of such a project. During this 1-hour, complimentary webinar, we focused on risk mitigation relating to different parts of solar power plant design: inverters, cabling and connectors.

Olivier Haldi of Stäubli Electrical Connectors and Francesc Filiberto of Siconia presented an in-depth reflection on risk analysis and mitigation, diving into topics such as:

  • Various long term inverter service strategies

  • Why failures of cables/connectors rank among the highest potential risks in a PV system

  • Impact of risk-factors on the efficiency (LCOE) and the economic success (ROI) of a PV project

  • How to mitigate potential risks and maximize returns
